Let ASCP Give You a Boost Up the Career Advancement Ladder

Aug 28, 2018

ASCP has two new ways to help supercharge your job search: Our first ever Virtual Career Fair open to anyone around the world and a physical Career Advancement Center that will be open to attendees at the ASCP 2018 Annual Meeting in Baltimore.

The Career Advancement Center will have a booth during the first two days of the ASCP 2018 Annual Meeting, on Oct. 3-4. ASCP staff on hand will include Catherine Stakenas, consultant, Organizational Leadership & Development; Carroll Tito, director, Human Resources; Lotte Mulder, senior manager of Organizational Leadership & Development; Edna Garcia, director of Scientific Engagement and Research; and Iman Kundu, Research and Analytics associate.

The center will offer a wide variety of seminars, from resume writing, interviewing and learning about online job search tools to one on one mentoring, coaching sessions and mock interviews. Additionally, there will be highlights from the vacancy survey of medical laboratory professionals.

“The Career Advancement Center is back by popular demand. We offered it several years ago and our members have really expressed a need for career advancement sessions,” says Ms. Stakenas.

Can’t make it to the annual meeting? Not a problem—All ASCP members, whether they are at the Annual Meeting or not, can participate in the Virtual Career Fair on Oct. 5. It is free for all job candidates and a great way to get your resume in front of five, ten, or even 20 hiring managers–all in one day. Registration is open until Oct. 5.

Participants in the Virtual Career Fair will have an opportunity to schedule 15 minutes to chat with a prospective employer online, by phone or video.

“This is a unique opportunity for people in the medical laboratory profession to access resources they normally would not be able to,” said Gina Anzalone, ASCP assistant membership manager. “From your lab, home or office, you can participate in this singular opportunity to find a position for yourself or a friend.”
