Members of the ASCP, ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) and other laboratory professional organizations flooded CMS with comments opposed to the Agency’s proposals to allow an individual with a nursing degree to perform high complexity testing and serve as a technical consultant of a moderate complexity laboratory.
More than 8,600 comments were received by the March 12 comment deadline. The vast majority of commenters responded to ASCP’s eAdvocacy campaign, which is now closed. ASCP and the ASCP Board of Certification Board of Governors also submitted comments, which can be accessed here and here. ASCP will provide a more detailed report on this issue in the April edition of ePolicy.
